A Simple Semi-Analytical Method for Solving Axisymmetric Contact Problems Involving Bonded and Unbonded Layers of Arbitrary Thickness

In the present work, a recently extended version of method dimensionality reduction (MDR) for layered elastic media is applied first time using semi-analytical approach. It based on priori knowledge cylindrical flat punch solution which determined numerically boundary element (BEM). We consider arbitrary indenters revolution producing circular area contact with bonded and unbonded layers thickness. The proposed reduces to efficient evaluation simple one-dimensional integrals. further show that JKR-adhesive contacts linear-viscoelastic straightforward well-known MDR formalisms. A specific focus has been devoted study thickness effect in different application examples. Comparisons literature finite simulations very good agreement method.
